Like a journey to the Center of the Earth?
Until so far, seismology still is the most effective and poweful tool to detect the interior of our planet. Similar mechanisum as Ultra sound imaging, the way of how seismology works is to place a lot of digital seismometer on the surface of the Earth to detect the signal exited by earthquakes.
The deep mantle is thought to be the source region of the plate tectonics which drives the dynamic development of the Earth surface. My work mainly focuses on understanding the deep mantle structure as welll as dynamic processes using seimology measurement and geodynamic modelling methods.
Recent progress
Recently I finished some work regarding quantitively measuring the waveform variations and applied that technique to detect the waveform broadening effect caused by multipathing effects ( or out of great circle plane diffraction ). This process can be used automaticlly to detect sharp elastic contrast casuing multipathing or waveform distortion.
